Overall, I had a good experience dining at Mendokoro. It's some of the best ramen I've had in a while. They clearly know what they're doing in that regard. They're pretty good about filling your water glass and they gave a bib to avoid ramen splashing on your shirt/pants. However, some of the other aspects of the restaurant were less pleasant. Three times I was asked to be upsold to add gyoza to my meal, even after paying (which one does at the front desk upon entering). This type of upsell tactic (3x) just felt a bit tacky and used car salesman-esque. The ramen comes in a piping hot dish - one can easily burn oneself touching it, and there was no warning about this. Lastly, the guest WiFi doesn't work. I hope they can improve on some of these peripheral experiences, because the ramen speaks for itself!
WOW!!! What a find in the metro area. Food was amazing, fast, flavorful and AMAZING!! It's a ramen bar, so cozy with your neighbors and staff as you see your meal made I front of you. 10/10
They gave me a bib! So happy since i was wearing a very light colored outfit and was what i needed so i could slurp slurp slurp my way to happiness The process: 1. Check in with host 2. Check menu and place order with host 3. Wait to be called to pay in advance. Can add additional when seated if necessary but does slow down their efficient system flow 4. Wait to be seated 5. Get seated and confirm order 6. Receive order 7. Eat Enjoy! Order: Miso Ramen Shoyu Ramen Gyoza 5pc Chasu Burger Aji Tamago for each soup Noodle: Ramen noodle is a thicker ramen noodle and soft. Very slurpable. Grateful for my bib Soup: The Miso is thick and the flavor was very similar to a Los Angeles staple Daikokuya Kotteri The Shoyu interestingly was my preferred flavor but tasted so heavily influenced by mushroom umami that i immediately imagined an elevated cream of mushroom soup The gyoza was crispy and soft. The Aji Tamago was soft and nice cold when eaten with the steaming hot soup The Chasu Burger which i intentionally left last was as they say leave the best for last. I would come back and order and not allow anyone to share with me. GYO
TLDR: The greatest tonkotsu ramen of all time. One of the greatest gyozas to be made. The greatest service water of all time. Eating this more than once a quarter would probably be unhealthy. Knowing that, I think I'd still risk it. Shoyu ramen: It's ethereal food. This bowl of ramen may not be delicate and it's definitely not light. It is however almost too perfect for this world. The broth is life changing, the chashu is tender like it was cooked for 12 hours, the noodles are amazing, and the additives in the bowl pop out enough to be noticed but never outshine the main components. Gyoza: It may just be the best gyoza I've ever had. It's a perfect mix of pork and veggies. The gyoza skin is thin, the sauce is a good touch of tang, and I just love everything in the plate. Water: I know. Who in their right mind will review the water of the restaurant? Me, because I've never had water that I would call "amazing". I don't care if your bottled water is from the French Alps. This one easily beats it and I don't have to pay extra for it. Service: The place has a very barebones setup. Cashier takes your order. You wait for your number to be called. You're ushered to a seat. Kitchen staff prepare and give you your food. It's a straightforward and easy interaction. Everything you need is most likely already in front of you. Ambiance: The biggest downside of this place is the wait. The place only seats 20-25 and the lines get pretty crazy. Once you're inside though, the place looks simple yet elegant, the restaurant is not hot considering the kitchen is the center piece, and the layout is unique.
Best ramen I've ever had in my 11 years living in Japan!! Family friendly too!! Good amount of space.
Good service and really good ramen! Fairly authentic only complaint was it was just a touch salty, but not too bad.
food- 10/10 service- 10/10 ambiance 10/10 The food was delicious, serve really hot, soup was so yummy and i was so admire and happy for the ambiance was so great and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!" I had a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant to others.
One of the best ramen I've ever had! Glad my cousins took me here. We came toward the end of the night but it was still quite packed! Just shows how good the food is. We were able to "pre order" while waiting so as soon as we sat down, the ramen shortly followed. I ordered the tantanmen and wow! It was so creamy, delicious and bursting with flavor. We also ordered the shoyo and miso and all were extremely flavorful and rich. I loved it. Ambiance reminded me of Japan as we all sat side by side in a wrap around bar. Next time I'm in Makati, I am definitely stopping by!
Must Visit! Ordered: Miso Ramen & Gyzoa. Hands down one of the best ramen spots I visited in Makati. Highly recommend going early and hungry seating is limited, and the portion is generous. After reading all the reviews I made sure to be there within 15 minutes of opening. Upon arrival, you are required to show your vaccination card - hard copy or digital. You'll then be sent to the cashier to place your order. The best part is you can watch from the boat-shaped kitchen counter your meal being prepared. The menu is straightforward. The most popular and what I had was the Tonkatsu Miso Ramen. Other options: * Tsukemen cold noodles are separate from the broth. * Maze Soba - dry noodles served with a thick sauce. * Hiyashi Ramen, commonly loaded with vegetables and meat All best paired with their delicious Gyoza. This miso soup was light on the palate but bold in flavor. Noodles were a perfect balance of firm and chewy. Topped, with tender cuts of smoked chatsu slices. You are left with such a lingering sense of satisfaction once consumed. You'll be planning your next visit right after. Note: Customers can choose their spice level. You can find better-priced ramen around the city but this is worth every penny. Overall, great taste, presentation, and service is quick. Mi
Worth the wait! There was a long line and their process from taking orders, paying and receiving orders were efficient!! Ramen was superb! Sarap!! Oishi!
